This is Johann Steigenberger's personal FAQ about UCEPROTECT and APEWS.

Q1: Is APEWS owned by UCEPROTECT, Admins WebSecurity or even you?

A1: NO

Q2: Who is APEWS?

A2: Similair with SPEWS, there are some people, which i would suspect to be APEWS, but i can not prove it.
That means: I DO NOT KNOW.

Q3: Can you prove that you are not APEWS?

A3: Of course, but it requires that you think logic.

Q4: What are logical reasons why you are not APEWS?

A4.1: UCEPROTECT operates from Germany.
This means listees worldwide have no chance to sue us, because different to many other countries, the German law is on our side.
You have no need to stay anonymous, if you are operating a blacklist here.

A4.2: I never made a secret of it, that i am the project leader behind UCEPROTECT.
If i would be APEWS, I would also tell it to you. Those trolling around will not tell you who they are. That should give you enough hints about their trustworthy.

A4.3: UCEPROTECT is a high automated system while APEWS seems to be maintained manually.
I would not even have the time to manage an manual blacklist. If i would have the time to do so, then this would mean it would cost money.
It is known, that UCEPROTECT charges listees for expedite removals. (Automatic removal at UCEPROTECT is free of charge).
It is part of our company's philisophy how to run a blacklist, to share the project costs with listees.

We got lots of critics because we are doing so, but this is nothing we will change, because extra employees (for the blacklist) do not work for free.
So what does this mean to APEWS: I assume it takes a a lot of time to manage all these records manually.
If APEWS would be owned by UCEPROTECT or Admins WebSecurity then it would definitivley cost money to get delisted.
I can not see anything about fees at the APEWS website ...

A4.4: Trolls also often claim, we would run UCEPROTECT to earn money with it.
If that would be true, wouldn't we be crazy to also run a free competitive blacklist?
That means either those trolls lie when telling the story that we would run UCEPROTECT to earn money, or they lie when telling we would be APEWS.
Facts are you should not trust them, because they always tell bullshit.

A4.5: UCEPROTECT and APEWS have complete different listings. You will often find an IP listed on UCEPROTECT, which is not listed on APEWS,
and you will also find IP's listed on APEWS, which we do not have on UCEPROTECT.

Q5: Why is APEWS mirrored by UCEPROTECT?

A5: Similair to the other APEWS Mirrors i was asked whether or not i would mirror them.
Because i always loved SPEWS, and i really liked the idea of someone continuing their work.

Q6. Why are so many trolls claiming you would be APEWS?

A6: No idea, ask those assholes yourself ... I personally think it is only one troll morphing his identity here.
